About

Hello and Welcome to my photography blog. First thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my images. So, you would like to know a little about me, huh? Well here goes. Names Jovanni, friends and family call me JoJo. I am an up and coming photographer. I currently reside in Salt Lake City, UT but am about to head out to the far west in search of my "gold" or rather in search of my dream of becoming a professional photographer. I'm moving to The Bay Area, CA in August. There, I will be starting my own Head Shot Photography business. Recently within the last 3 or 4 months I have had the chance through the SLC Photo Collective to learn and get familiar with studio lighting and portraiture's. It has been a fun and at times a frustrating process. Each shoot has pushed me out of my own comfort zone and made me focus on the moment and push my limits. The dynamics of interacting with models, lighting and other photographers has been a great learning experience and privilege.

My life long goal with photography is to become a Travel Photographer. I aspire to create photos like Steve McCurry and Mitchell Kanashkevich. I want to capture the essence of a place, a culture, the people, the land, and share that experience with someone who has never seen any of those things and have them connect with the image in a way that creates an emotion and moves that person to action. This action can be anything such as wanting to go travel, help out a community, or just researching and broadening their views on that particular subject. As you can see I am very passionate about travel. In my honest opinion I if everyone in the world would visit at least one foreign country there would be less fighting and hatred. Traveling opens your eyes and shows you that we are all the same, all needing the same basic needs. Once your eyes are opened it is hard to ignore and discriminate other cultures.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ― Augustine of Hippo.
“Every dreamer knows that it is entirely possible to be homesick for a place you've never been to, perhaps more homesick than for familiar ground.” ― Judith Thurman
“All travel has its advantages. If the passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. And if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it.” – Samuel Johnson
“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller
